Jimmy Fallon has a new time-slot competitor with the arrival of Stephen Colbert to The Late Show, but as his Friday interview with Ellen DeGeneres proves, the Tonight Show host is more than happy to welcome his competition to the field.

“… [Colbert is] just, as you know, one of the nicest guys out there,” Fallon told DeGeneres, who appeared on Fallon’s Tonight Show on Wednesday for a lip-sync battle. “So I think the more the merrier. I think it just brings more attention to late-night. It gets more people watching TV in general. So I think we all win. I mean, there’s room for everybody.”

And if you believe actions speak louder than words, Fallon didn’t just speak to his excitement for Colbert to both DeGeneres and on his show. He made a brief cameo during Colbert’s inaugural Late Show outing.
