You're the Worst season 2: Aya Cash talks sex scenes, reveals the naked truth: Interview

In last year’s season finale of You’re the Worst, Aya Cash’s music publicist Gretchen moved in with her boyfriend, Chris Geere’s Brit novelist Jimmy, after setting fire to her apartment with her, ahem, “foot massager.” So what can fans expect from the second season of the raunchy, L.A.-based sitcom, which premieres Wednesday on FXX at 10:30 p.m. ET? Our best guess: sex.

“There’s sex in this show?” Cash asks EW, laughing. “I didn’t know. Oh my god! Do I have sex on camera?”

But seriously! “You know, honestly, I get off the hook with the sex stuff a lot [this season],” she says. “Things have reversed. You’re going to see a lot of Kether Donahue [who plays Gretchen’s newly single best friend Lindsay]. And it’s glorious!”

Not that Gretchen and Jimmy have exactly adopted a vow of chastity, you understand. “They’re in a relationship now so let’s say the sex scenes are very different this year — not necessarily in a positive way,” says the actress.

Cash explains that the cast itself has a positive approach when shooting the show’s more embarrassingly explicit moments. “The sex stuff is fine,” says the actress. “It’s not anyone’s favorite thing to do, but they make it very comfortable, and you write s— on your pasties, and you do stupid stuff to lighten the mood, and then everyone acts like a professional.”
