Drake Hotline Bling covered by Charlie Puth and Kehlani

Alessia Cara isn’t the only upstart taking on Drake.

Charlie Puth, he of “See You Again” and “Marvin Gaye” fame, teamed up with Kehlani to cover “Hotline Bling.” It ditches the drums and overall chillness to significantly drop the speed and make it a song for two. Puth and Kehlani make a nice duet pairing; with their respective voices, the subtlety of the piano works as the primary instrumentation.

Puth recently announced his debut album Nine Track Mind, which is due Nov. 6. On the other side of the recording, Kehlani released a mixtape, You Should Be Here, in April.
