Some kind of wonderful casting has occurred on Madam Secretary.
EW has learned exclusively that Eric Stoltz, who co-executive produces the political drama that’s about to begin its second season on CBS, will moonlight as the brother of Elizabeth McCord (Téa Leoni).
Stoltz, best known for his memorable roles in the ’80s hits Some Kind of Wonderful and Mask, will play Peter, an adventurer and lifelong risk-taker. He and Elizabeth have a history of conflict and are attempting to settle old scores when he comes to town for a visit.
His first episode will likely air in November.
Stoltz, who could end up recurring as Peter, won’t be the first producer to go in front of the camera this season on Madam Secretary. Earlier this month, EW revealed exclusively that Morgan Freeman will play a Supreme Court Justice in the premiere episode. Freeman is an executive producer on the series.
The second season of Madam Secretary premieres Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
