Miley Cyrus hosted the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, and her dad, one Billy Ray Cyrus, live-tweeted the whole thing. Mostly. “Wake up! It’s almost showtime!!” he said wrote on Sunday morning.
Ahead, all the tweets the elder Cyrus posted on Sunday night, while his daughter was emcee of the event. (Billy Ray made no mention of Nicki Minaj calling out Miley for her Times interview, nor Miley’s wardrobe malfunction.)
Following the VMAs on Sunday, the Parents Television Council released a statement slamming Miley and MTV for the show. “Are we surprised that Miley Cyrus exposed herself to millions of viewers, and to more people who will inevitably see the news in the mainstream media?” the statement read. “About as surprised as we’ll be if the sun rises in the east tomorrow morning. We had hoped she would have proven us wrong and demonstrate her considerable talent as a performer, rather than rely on her own sexuality to entertain the audience.”
