Macklemore got Ken Griffey Jr. to recreate his 1989 Upper Deck rookie card

Upper Deck

Seattle born Macklemore turned 6 during Ken Griffey Jr.’s debut season for the Seattle Mariners, putting him at the prime age to have collected Griffey’s popular 1989 Upper Deck rookie card. Which is perhaps why the rapper had Griffey recreate that iconic baseball card for his new video, “Downtown,” with Ryan Lewis. The clip went online Thursday, and struck a chord with baseball fans across the internet.

Macklemore himself posted a side-by-side photo of Griffey, who was nicknamed The Kid during his playing days.

Shouts to @therealkengriffeyjr for his cameo in the Downtown music video! Appreciate you!
