Steven Pasquale has joined the cast of CBS’ retooled drama pilot Doubt, EW has learned.
The project stars Katherine Heigl as a smart, chic, successful defense lawyer at a boutique firm who shockingly gets romantically involved with one of her clients who may or may not be guilty of a brutal crime.
Pasquale (The Good Wife, Bloodline, Do No Harm) will play said client, Billy, a decent, altruistic pediatric surgeon recently accused of murdering a 15-year-old girl many years ago.
Doubt was shot for this year’s pilot season, but CBS decided to re-cast and re-shoot the project rather than pick the title up to series. Heigl replaced KaDee Strickland, while Pasquale takes over the role originally played by Teddy Sears, who has joined The Flash as Jay Garrick in season 2.
Some original co-stars who are still on board include Laverne Cox, Dule Hill, Dreama Walker and Elliott Gould.
Tony Phelan and Joan Rater will write and executive-produce with Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly and Adam Bernstein, who will helm the pilot.
