Fashion Police comes back next week, but not before some more off-screen drama. At an event for this weekend’s NYX Face Awards, former Fashion Police co-host Kelly Osbourne called out her one-time coworker Giuliana Rancic.
“I don’t think she’s a good person,” Osbourne told The Wrap Saturday, “and I think she’s a liar.”
Osbourne left the E! series following Rancic’s comments about Zendaya, in which she told Fashion Police audiences the teen star likely “smells like patchouli oil and weed.” The 30-year-old tweeted that she does “not condone racism” shortly before announcing her exit.
Kathy Griffin, who stepped in to fill the late Joan Rivers’ shoes on the program, also departed Fashion Police as a result of Rancic’s remarks. Griffin’s stint on the show lasted less than three months. Following the turmoil, E! placed Fashion Police on hiatus, which ends Aug. 31 when Melissa Rivers, Brad Goreski and Rancic return to cover the MTV Video Music Awards.
While co-hosting The View earlier this month, Osbourne came under fire herself for what many considered a racist statement towards the Latino community. Despite immediately apologizing, Osbourne offered Us Weekly her theory on why her View gaffe received such intense backlash. “Do you know why?,” she said at the NYX Face Awards. “Because of people like Giuliana Rancic.”
“I will never admit to liking Giuliana because I don’t,” Osbourne added to The Wrap. As for whether she’d ever consider coming back to Fashion Police, Osbourne told the trade she would, “If certain people weren’t there.”
Rancic’s camp did not immediately return EW’s request for comment.
