Aubrey Plaza tells ELLE she hopes to make a Golden Girls-type sitcom with Anna Kendrick

We know and love Aubrey Plaza as Chris Pratt’s cynical sweetheart on Parks and Recreation, but next year, she’ll head to the big screen alongside a new leading man: Zac Efron. First, Plaza stars opposite Efron and Robert De Niro in Dirty Grandpa, and then she’ll join the abs-tastic actor and Anna Kendrick for Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.

“I’m on this Zac Efron train right now,” Plaza tells ELLE. “I’m just riding it to the top. We’re going to become America’s sweethearts very soon, I hope.”

In addition to working with one of Hollywood’s hottest young actors, Plaza says Mike and Dave represents another career landmark for her. “It’s a really big deal for me, because it’s a lead in a big studio comedy, which I really haven’t done in a long time — ever, actually, so I’m really excited about it,” she tells the magazine. “It’s been something I’ve wanted to do for a while.”

Plaza also has some goals involving her other Mike and Dave costar. “Anna [Kendrick] and I have had a dream about having our own Golden Girls kinda sitcom when we’re older,” she says.

But after seven years on Parks and Rec, Plaza admits she feels empty not filming the NBC series this fall. “But all of us are keeping in touch, which is making me really happy and not depressed,” she says. “We all have like an ongoing mass text chain where we’re just keeping in constant contact, so that makes it easier.”

Now that’s one group text we wouldn’t mind being part of.
