It’s a safe bet that FKA Twigs really is into Robert Pattinson for qualities other than his past as a YA heartthrob. The singer recently told an interviewer from Britain’s Sunday Times that she hasn’t even seen Twilight, the movie that sent Pattinson’s career into overdrive and launched a wave of YA adaptations. That might seem unusual to some, but FKA Twigs — whose music bends genres between R&B, electro, and interpretive dance — thrives on the unusual.
“It’s so bad to be basic,” she told the interviewer. “I’m not the kind of person who goes to an exhibition on a Thursday night just because everyone is. … I don’t have an average day. I hate that kind of thing.”
FKA Twigs refused to dish on her personal life with Pattison (“I don’t really understand the fascination”) or comment on the reports that they’re engaged (though seemed to confirm that news in a previous interview), but did briefly touch on what it’s like dating someone famous.
“I don’t understand what the levels [of fame] are. I’m a bit naïve,” she said. “I don’t read Heat, for example. I don’t engage in that world, even with myself, even with my own career.”
