There’s a lot said in the latest trailer for Everest about just how treacherous climbing the titular mountain can be — “Human beings simply aren’t built to function at the cruising altitude of a 747,” Jason Clarke’s character warns, adding that it’s “without a doubt the most dangerous place on Earth.”
There’s hearing it, and then there’s seeing it. This new clip has dizzying aerial shots, falling ice, unsteady ladders and other perilous threats as a cast including Clarke, Jake Gyllenhaal, and John Hawkes push themselves to the limit against the elements.
Everest, which was shot in Nepal, Italy, and at Pinewood Studios in the U.K., also stars Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Sam Worthington, Keira Knightley and Emily Watson. It’s set to open the Venice Film Festival on Sept. 2, where it will screen out of competition, and then hits IMAX 3-D screens on Sept. 18 before going wide (including standard 2-D and 3-D screens) on Sept. 25.
