Summer TV ratings: Who's up, who's down

Posted on

Who’s on top of broadcast TV’s summer scramble? Here’s how shows are ranking during the Big 5 network’s usual off-season.

There are a few clear winners—like NBC’s American Ninja Warrior leaping higher in the adult demo yet again this year, and ABC’s The Bachelorette enjoying a healthy spike. While longtime hits like NBC America’s Got Talent and CBS’ Big Brother win by merely staying roughly on par with last year. Among new shows, Fox’s thriller Wayward Pines has come out on top with a renew-able rating. On the downside, titles like CBS’ Under the Dome, Extant and NBC’s Hannibal fell sharply (Hannibal with the added baggage of having moved into summer for for its final NBC season). And NBC’s Welcome to Sweden is totally gutter-balling.

Here’s the rundown. The ratings are the most current 18-49 demo numbers available (which broadcasters tend to largely use, along with total viewers, to make renewal decisions) and they include DVR playback:
