So You Think You Can Dance Twitter save: SYTYCD announces first-ever social media save

So You Think You Can Dance is still shaking things up in season 12: Starting Monday, fans will be able to keep one dancer from Team Stage and one dancer from Team Street safe from elimination, EW can exclusively reveal.

After the bottom three dancers from each team have performed, the So You Think You Can Dance Fan Save hashtag #Save[contestant’s first name] for each contestant will appear onscreen. Viewers will then be given a short window of time to tweet to save the dancer of their choice — one Stage, one Street — before host Cat Deeley reveals the results on air, sparing one member of each team for another week.

Fans not watching live during the East Coast broadcast can follow the show’s official Twitter account @DANCEonFOX to find out which contestants are in jeopardy and when the voting window opens.

The move marks yet another first for So You Think You Can Dance, which also switched to a more competetive format this year by splitting dancers into two teams based on their training. The long-running reality show celebrates 10 years on air on Tuesday with a “Decade of Dance” special.

So You Think You Can Dance airs Monday at 8 p.m. ET live/ PT tape-delayed.
