Canadians don't want Kanye West performing at the Pan Am Games

The Pan American Games have been underway at Toronto’s Rodgers Centre since July 10 and are set to close July 26 with a celebratory concert. The games’ Twitter announced Wednesday that Kanye West would be performing at the Closing Ceremony later this month, and since then, a Change.org petition to replace the self-proclaimed “greatest living rock star on the planet” has garnered over 40,000 signatures.

The complaints against West aren’t due to his occasionally overgrown ego or controversial antics, but rather that West isn’t Canadian.

Some people are okay with West performing, as long as he stays away from the awarding of the medals.

Serena Ryder and Pitbull will also take the stage at the Closing Ceremony. If West took a lesson from the “Time of Our Lives” star and called himself Mr. Worldwide, maybe he wouldn’t find himself being passed over for the likes of Justin Bieber or Celine Dion.
