Despite playing strigoi-battling vampire hunters on The Strain, the FX show’s cast isn’t immune to getting scared on set themselves. But it’s not by the story.

Stopping by the Entertainment Weekly Lounge at Comic-Con, The Strain‘s stars discussed what scares them. And for Ruta Gedmintas (Dutch), the answer is unfortunately costar Kevin Durand, who has a prank or two to pull most days on set.

“I tend to be chatty and distracted because it’s four-and-a-half hours of makeup to become a strigoi,” Natalie Brown (Kelly) explained. “And then it’s always at the very end when they put in the teeth and the eyes and I’ll catch a glimpse of myself and I forget what I look like.”
