After defeating Ra’s al Ghul, Oliver Queen left Starling City to find his happiness with Felicity…except that wasn’t the series finale of Arrow. So, what will bring Oliver Queen back into the fold? This is just one of a number of questions we hope the Arrow cast and executive producers answer during Saturday’s Comic-Con panel. To prepare for the big event, EW is here to give you a refresher on where The CW super series left off:
Where we left off: With Ra’s al Ghul (Matt Nable) planning to annihilate Starling City with a bio-weapon, Oliver sabotages their transport plane with an aim toward killing all the passengers — including himself. Fortunately, that’s not the end for the man formerly known as the Arrow. Unfortunately, Ra’s was lying about his plans. His real goal in releasing the weapon was to kill his nemesis Damien Darhk, who fled town before the onslaught. Even so, the virus is released, and Ra’s and Oliver face off in a fatal death-match that sees Ra’s on the wrong end of Oliver’s sword. Malcolm (John Barrowman) becomes the new Ra’s al Ghul and Oliver gives up being the Arrow to find his happy ending with Felicity outside of Starling City.
What we know about season 4: Hitting the nail on the head a little more than usual for a season finale, Arrow all but promised Damien Darhk and H.I.V.E. would play a major role next season — in fact, Neal McDonough was just cast! Also, with Malcolm as the new Ra’s—and Sara being brought back to life for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow via the Lazarus Pits — it seems likely the former Dark Archer will have a hand in resurrecting the White Canary at some point in the new season.
Comic-Con burning question: What crazy catastrophe brings Oliver back to Starling City?
