Before the writers of The Big Bang Theory potentially break our hearts with news about the state of Amy and Sheldon’s relationship at Comic-Con on Friday, EW is here to give you a refresher on where the CBS comedy left off:
Where we left off: Frustrated with the glacial pace at which their relationship is moving, Amy (Mayim Bialik) decides to take some space from Sheldon (Jim Parsons), unaware that he has procured an engagement ring. Meanwhile, Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) head to Las Vegas with an aim to get hitched until he admits to a drunken make-out session with a co-worker during his North Sea expedition. Raj (Kunal Nayyar) decides not to break up with the adorably twisted Emily (Laura Spencer) for fear of being alone, while Howard (Simon Helberg) and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) struggled with whether to kick Stuart (Kevin Sussman) out of their home until they realized it was his birthday.
What we know about season 9: For the time being, Amy and Sheldon are kaput, so it will be up to Sheldon to figure out whether he wants to win her back—and their relationship woes will likely cause a ripple affect throughout the group. Since we didn’t see Leonard and Penny call off the wedding, they are still heading towards Vegas, but whether they get hitched remains to be seen.
