Facebook isn’t looking to take part in the music streaming wars despite rumors that the social networking site is going to launch a streaming service: A spokesperson for the company told EW they “have no plans to go into music streaming.”
This announcement comes on the heels of Apple’s foray into streaming — their new service, Apple Music, launched June 30, just three months after Jay Z relaunched Tidal. Those two services joined multiple others, including Spotify and Pandora.
Even if Facebook did decide to start streaming, another social media site already beat it to the punch: Myspace. The formerly Facebook-like website revamped in 2013, transforming into a music hub where users can stream songs and radio stations.
