2015 Mary Murphy & Company LLC

At a lunch in Alabama June 30, Harper Lee: American Masters documentary filmmaker and author Mary McDonagh Murphy met with Harper Lee in celebration of her forthcoming second novel, Go Set A Watchman. PBS has announced that on Friday, July 10, from 9-10:30PM, it will air a newly updated version of Murphy’s 2012 documentary, Harper Lee: Hey, Boo (broadcast under the name Harper Lee: American Masters).

This updated version will include footage from Lee’s June 30 meeting with her friend Joy Brown, who, along with Brown’s husband Michael, helped finance Lee during the writing of To Kill A Mockingbird. Murphy, author of Scout, Atticus & Boo: A Celebration of To Kill A Mockingbird, will also report on her own meeting with Lee this week in an American Masters web exclusive (keep an eye on Twitter for that announcement).
