Professional golfer Bubba Watson says he plans to paint over the Confederate flag displayed on the roof of his 1969 Dodge Charger from The Dukes of Hazzard.

Watson tweeted that he made the decision because he believes “all men ARE created equal.”

The Masters winner has been the owner of one of cars from the hit TV series since he purchased it for $110,000 at a 2012 auction, according to The New York Times. Now, in the wake of the June 17 attack at a historic black church that left nine dead in Charleston, South Carolina, Watson says he decided to paint over the Confederate flag on the General Lee’s roof and put an American flag in its place.

“Obviously I love the show,” he told the Times. “But the flag is offensive to some people. There’s been enough buzz. I thought it was the right gesture for me to do.”

Watson’s decision comes after TV Land pulled reruns of The Dukes of Hazzard off its schedule earlier this week. Warner Bros. also announced it would no longer license toy cars or models of the General Lee.
