ABC has announced its plans to revive the old game show To Tell The Truth, which ran during the 1950s and ’60s, as a comedic game show/variety show hybrid, hosted by Blackish star Anthony Anderson.
In this six-episode revival, three people will claim to be the same person, one with a special job, talent, or achievement, and a panel of celebrities—including Betty White, who appeared on the original program, and NeNe Leakes—will ask questions to figure out who is telling the truth. Only one of those three people is “sworn to tell the truth.” The celebrities’s guessing skills come with high stakes: The worst-performing panelist will have to tweet a lie about themselves to the world.
But perhaps the best news of all? The show’s scorekeeper is none other than Anderson’s own “brassy” mother, Doris, who not only gets to ask her own questions of the contestants, but will be “embarassing her son every chance she gets,” the press release promises.
ABC has not announced a premiere date.
