Maya Rudolph's Rachel Dolezal impression makes debut on Late Night with Seth Meyers

Maya Rudolph is here to give America what it needs most—less empty talk about Rachel Dolezal and more Maya Rudolph impressions.

On Monday’s Late Night with Seth Meyers, Rudolph told her host and fellow Saturday Night Live alum that she’s been approached almost daily about what a shame it is that she isn’t on SNL to offer her take on Dolezal. Meyers couldn’t offer her a Tina Fey-esque return to her old stomping ground, but did provide Rudolph with a wig and scene partner.

After watching an especially awkward interview segment, Meyers and Rudolph riffed on Dolezal’s inability to answer any questions about her race. The genius of Rudolph’s impression was in its wordlessness—all it took was a wide-eyed stare and a well-timed point to her wig.

“I think America really missed out,” Rudolph told Meyers. Maybe we did for a while, but we’ll always have Late Night.
