John le Carré will make a cameo in the upcoming BBC adaptation of his 1993 novel The Night Manager, EW has confirmed. The author will appear in a restaurant scene which was filmed earlier this month.

Le Carré has stepped in front of the camera for two previous interpretations of his work: 2011’s Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and 1984’s The Little Drummer Girl.

Last week, AMC, BBC One and The Ink Factory announced Russell Tovey, Alistair Petrie and Douglas Hodge would be joining previously announced cast members Olivia Colman, Elizabeth Debicki, Tom Hollander, Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie in the project.

The Night Manager follows a former British solider named Jonathan Pine (Hiddleston) who becomes a spy in order to infiltrate the network of a black market arms circle fronted by Richard Onslow Roper (Laurie).

Filming began for the mini-series this spring, with The Night Manager set to debut in 2016.
