Sundance hit Turbo Kid showcases a post apocalyptic love story

Posted on

Horror, action, and BMX are just some of the things you’ll see in Turbo Kid: the post apocalyptic, 1980’s inspired film that debuted at Sundance earlier this year. Directed by Anouk Whissell, François Simard, and Yoann-Karl Whissell, the movie stars newcomers Munro Chambers and Laurence Leboeuf, along with seasoned genre actor Michael Ironside (Total Recall).

Turbo Kid focuses on an orphaned, comic-book obsessed teenager (Chambers) who meets a mysterious girl (Leboeuf) and eventually becomes best friends with her. When the Wasteland’s menacing leader Zeus (Ironside) kidnaps the girl, “The Kid” is forced to face his greatest fears in order to save her (and the world) from evil. The first trailer for the film showcases a healthy mix of Mad Max: Fury Road inspired dystopia, as well as a bit of Tarantino and a lot of genre elements that makes it look like we’re in for a wild (bike) ride.

Turbo Kid will be released in theaters Aug. 28.
