Country singer Randy Howard killed by bounty hunter

Posted on

Country singer Randy Howard was shot and killed by a bounty hunter Tuesday evening, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirmed to EW.

According to the TBI, Howard “fired a weapon at the bounty hunter,” who then shot and killed Howard. The bounty hunter, who was injured in the confrontation, was attempting to detain Howard for fourth-offense DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, and driving on a revoked license.

The Associated Press reports that Howard performed with Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings during his career, and his 1983 album All-American Redneck peaked at No. 31 on the Top Country Albums chart.

Watch Howard sing “I Don’t Know You” live at Georgia’s Capitol Theater in 2006.
