Could your next Daredevil binge be interrupted by sponsored ads? Not exactly, Netflix says
Netflix is responding to rumors that it has begun experimenting with ads. “We do not and will not be adding third-party ads,” a spokesperson told Vice. The online streaming service is, however, testing ads for its own content with some viewers.
“They’re not ads in the traditional sense,” a Netflix spokesperson clarified to The Verge. “They are trailers for Netflix originals. As you know, we test hundreds of potential improvements to the service every year. Many never extend beyond that.”
In short: You won’t be stuck watching commercials for dog food, but Netflix does want to remind you that Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt exists. As if you didn’t already know.
