Comedy Central is doubling down on Nikki Glaser. The network has greenlit a new 10-episode series, Not Safe with Nikki Glaser, and ordered a one-hour stand-up special starring the comedian, as president of orignal programming Kent Alterman announced today.
“I was shocked to learn our fans have such keen interest in sex, but so be it,” said Alterman. “Nikki is the perfect talent to satisfy them.”
“I’m deeply touched that Comedy Central has decided to fulfill my Make-A-Wish dream of hosting a comedy show about sex. My parents are very proud (of my sister, who is a teacher),” said Glaser.
Hosted by Glaser, Not Safe with Nikki Glaser will combine chats with comedians, pre-taped vignettes, and social experiments. The series, set to debut in 2016, promises to explore the state of dating, sex, and relationships in today’s society. If you’re thinking of getting in line for tickets, come prepared: Audience members will be encouraged to share their own potentially NSFW content with Glaser across multiple platforms.
Glaser, a stand-up comedian, writer and host, has performed on The Tonight Show, Late Night with Seth Meyers, Conan, and Last Comic Standing. Glaser has a long history with Comedy Central—she is a frequent competitor on @midnight with Chris Hardwick and has appeared on many of the network’s series, including Inside Amy Schumer. She can also be seen in Schumer’s upcoming feature film, Trainwreck.
Not Safe with Nikki Glaser will be executive produced by Glaser, Chris Convy, Brad Petrigala, showrunner Chris McGuire (The Roast of Justin Bieber), and Alex Murray (@midnight with Chris Hardwick). Glaser’s one-hour original stand-up special, set to tape this fall, is executive produced by Glaser and Murray.
