Concept art for George Miller's abandoned Justice League movie revealed

Posted on

Mad Max director George Miller spent years trying to bring a Justice League movie to the big screen, but thanks to the Twitter account of the Justice League: Mortal documentary, we can get a glimpse at what we might have seen.

On May 30, the documentary’s official Facebook page announced that if it reached a certain number of followers on Twitter, it would unveil a never-before seen picture from Miller’s unmade film. The posted images revealed what a big-screen version of Aquaman might have looked like, as well as a head mold of the Martian Manhunter, and Wonder Woman in action.

At one point, Miller had cast the following heroes: Batman (Armie Hammer), Superman (D.J. Cotrona), Wonder Woman (Megan Gale), the Flash (Adam Brody), Aquaman (Santiago Cabrera), Green Lantern (Common), and Martian Manhunter (Hugh Keays-Byrne), before Warner Bros. and DC scrapped Miller’s plans. Justice League is still coming to the big screen, but it’s interesting to compare Miller’s Aquaman with Zack Snyder’s photo of Jason Momoa in Batman v. Superman. There’s undoubtably much more treasure to unearth—Hammer’s Batman?—and since the documentary does not yet have a green light, these images may be the only thing we ever see of Miller’s failed endeavor.
