Desperate to have a part in Warner Bros.’ remake of Point Break? You’re in luck—especially if you have some musical skills and an “extreme” sound. ASG Music Group, the joint venture between Alcon Entertainment and Sleeping Giant Media LLC, announced today that it is partnering with ReverbNation for an opportunity that will allow up-and-coming talent to contribute to the sound of the new movie.
Starting this week, musicians all over the world can begin submitting original songs for consideration as a possible end title song for Point Break. “We are confident that if we can find the right song, we can transform an artist or band from a street corner to a global stage,” said Michael Hodges, co-CEO of ASG, in a statement.
The original action movie, directed by Kathryn Bigelow, included songs from Sheryl Crow, Ratt, and L.A. Guns, but a lot has changed since 1991. What’s the modern sound of extreme-sports anarchists?
Directed by Ericson Core (Invincible) with a script by Kurt Wimmer (Salt), Point Break stars Luke Bracey, Edgar Ramirez, Teresa Palmer, Ray Winstone, and Delroy Lindo. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on Dec. 25.
