Most music fans know Florence Welch as a red-haired, big-voiced female singer backed by the Machine, but not Neil Young: “He said that when he first heard my record, he thought that I was a man with a high voice,” Welch told Rolling Stone.

The two first met when she performed at Young’s annual Bridge School Benefit in 2014, and that’s when he realized his mistake. “He was like, ‘I live in the mountains. I don’t know much media. I just thought you were a man called Florence,'” she said. “And I was like, ‘Hey, that’s pretty punk.’ I was like, ‘Thanks, Neil. Thank you so much.'”

Florence + the Machine are releasing a new album, their first since 2011’s Ceremonials, titled How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful June 1.
