Adam Scott is a comedy favorite, thanks to roles on shows like Party Down and Parks and Recreation—and, according to him, David Letterman’s largely to thank for him choosing to pursue acting in the first place.
“A good 80% of why I wanted to do any of this was to one day sit on Letterman’s couch,” Scott tweeted Wednesday, the same day Letterman’s final episode of Late Show is scheduled to air.
“In the summer of 85 I discovered Late Night with David Letterman by accident and it blew my 12 yr old mind,” he wrote. “It changed the way I thought about TV, defined what I found funny, and helped shape how I look at the world.”
Scott made his 12-year-old self’s dreams come true, and has appeared on Letterman’s famous couch multiple times over the years. See his entire Twitter tribute to Letterman below, and tune in to watch Letterman’s final episode Wednesday at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.
