Miles Teller's boxing biopic about Vinny Pazienza picked up at Cannes

Posted on

Sony has acquired the worldwide rights to Ben Younger’s boxing film, Bleed For This, starring Whiplash‘s Miles Teller and The Dark Knight‘s Aaron Eckhart. Variety initially reported the news that Sony paid $4 million for the rights to the film, which tells the story of Vinny Pazienza, the champion junior-middleweight whose career was nearly derailed in 1991 after he broke his neck in a car accident. Despite doctors’ claims that he would never walk again, Pazienza recovered and returned to the ring with the help of trainer Kevin Rooney (Eckhart).

Bleed For This will be released in the U.S. by Open Road Films, funded by Magna Entertainment with The Solution handling international distribution. Younger (Boiler Room) wrote the script, and Martin Scorsese and Joshua Sason executive produced.
