Bring on The Blob. Samuel L. Jackson has joined the upcoming remake of the 1958 science-fiction B-movie.
As first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Jackson will play a biochemistry professor who tries to stop the “other-worldly predator discovered deep within the earth.” Simon West (The Expendables 2) is set to direct. “I have been waiting to work with Samuel L. Jackson my whole career,” West said in a release. “He is a unique talent in the industry, definitely one of a kind. I am so pleased that we will finally get to collaborate on this project.”
Richard Saperstein, Brian Witten, Judith Parker Harris, and Taewon Chung will produce The Blob. Also producing? Jack Harris, the 96-year-old producer of the original 1958 movie. The original starred Steve McQueen, who tried to thwart the continuously growing alien life-form, a red menace that consumed everything in its path.
Filming is scheduled to begin this fall.
