Cate Blanchett stars as Carol Aird in Carol, a married woman in love with the younger Therese Belivet (Rooney Mara) in 1950s New York City. And now we have a first look at that romance as it begins to blossom in the film.
Indiewire’s The Playlist has unearthed two new clips from Carol, the latest showcasing Blanchett and Mara’s characters at a meal flirting—or at the very least, Carol definitely is as Therese seems less sure of herself during the interaction.
The second clip shows Therese watching and taking photos of Carol from afar. Watch both clips below, and head over to The Playlist for more on the film.
Carol is based on the 1952 novel The Price of Salt by Patricia Highsmith. The film will screen at Cannes but currently does not have a theatrical release date.
