Black Keys singer-guitarist Dan Auerbach announced last month that he’d put out fresh solo music as The Arcs this summer—but he’ll also hit the road with fellow Black Keys member Patrick Carney to honor tour dates Carney’s shoulder injury forced the band to cancel. In a new interview with NME, Auerbach has elaborated on the rescheduling, which came after Carney got injured by a wave in the Caribbean in January.
“We have a bunch of gigs set for the rest of the year,” Auerbach told the British magazine. “[Patrick] says he feels good. He’s been doing his rehab this whole time. It’s like a full time job trying to recuperate from that.”
Auerbach added that “it was really nice to spend a lot of time hanging out at home.” True to the band’s workingman vibe, when NME asked if Carney’s injury would force the Keys to strip back their visceral live show, Auerbach responded, “No, if that was ever the case we wouldn’t play the show.”
