According to the new season of True Detective, we get the world we deserve — and apparently the character posters too. On Friday, HBO released a quartet of one-sheets, each highlighting one of the big-name stars cast in season 2 of the Nic Pizzolatto anthology series.
Here’s Rachel McAdams.
Vince Vaughn is here.
Colin Farrell gets one too.
As does Taylor Kitsch.
In a Q&A with HBO published to Medium on Friday, Pizzolatto said the forthcoming season would not include as many gothic horror elements as the show’s first set of episodes.
“The gothic horror suggested by Louisiana’s coastal landscape didn’t feel appropriate in this place,” Pizzolatto said of the True Detective venue shift to Los Angeles. “These new landscapes have their own unique voice and their own unsettling qualities. While there’s nothing occult in this season, I think there’s a disconcerting psychology to this world, and its characters have other kinds of uncanny reality with which to contend.”
The creator also revealed that the unnamed song in the creepy first trailer is an original track written by T Bone Burnett, and that original music will play a large role in season 2. Read the full Q&A over at Medium.
True Detective returns to HBO on June 21 at 9 p.m. ET.
