There’s no joking about this news: The Three Stooges is getting a sequel.
According to SlashFilm, the follow-up to 2012’s film based on the popular comedy trio will include more action as opposed to straightforward comedy, with producers looking to cast a major action star in a role alongside returning cast members Sean Hayes, Chris Diamantopoulos and Will Sasso. C3 Entertainment, Grand Peaks Entertainment and The Exchange will help bring the sequel to life.
“With Sean, Chris and Will back as our Stooges and Cameron writing, this next film will be a truly unique blend of fast paced action with the hilarious mayhem of The Three Stooges,” Earl Benjamin, CEO of C3, in a statement to THR. The Farrelly brothers directed the first movie, which grossed only $54 million worldwide.
It’s reported that Cameron Fey will write the script for the sequel, though no director or release date has been announced.
