In a day filled with news concerning Marvel’s next phase of films, the studio has also confirmed that Captain America screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely will write both parts of Avengers: Infinity War.
The news re-teams Markus and McFeely with Captain America directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who were previously confirmed to direct the epic two-part conclusion to Marvel’s Phase 3 slate. In addition to writing the screenplays for Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, Markus and McFeely were co-writers on Thor: The Dark World and created the Marvel’s Agent Carter, the ABC series based on the popular Captain America character played by Hayley Atwell.
“Chris and Steve have been an integral part of the Marvel family since the early days of Phase 1, and their work speaks for itself,” said Producer Kevin Feige in a statement from Marvel. “We couldn’t be more excited to have them with us to help guide the Avengers through their biggest story yet.”
Avengers: Infinity War—Part 1 is scheduled to hit theaters May 4, 2018, with part two slated for release on May 3, 2019. More on the latest news about Captain America: Civil War can be found here.
