Tony Hawk is returning to video games, and it looks like he’s going back to his roots for the latest outing.
Game Informer has revealed the first look at Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5—which, for those keeping score, is nowhere near the fifth Tony Hawk game, but the fifth to use Pro Skater in the title. After going underground, exploring the American wasteland, and hoping players would want to use a fake skateboard to play, Pro Skater 5 looks to be bringing the title to its origins—with a few modifications, of course.
The game will include a new set of levels, all littered with missions and objectives that can be completed alone or with friends in online competitive and cooperative modes. There will also be the ability to create skateparks. Interestingly, Game Informer writes that the game will harken back to the original play style, along with new elements like “power-ups and the ability to shoot projectiles for specific missions.” Because when you think skateboarding, you think projectiles.
The announced playable skaters include Nyjah Huston, Aaron Homoki, Ishod Wair, Riley Hawk, Lizzie Armanto, Chris Cole, David Gonzalez, Leticia Bufoni, and Andrew Reynolds, mixing familiar names from the franchise and new skaters who probably grew up playing the original games.
Robomodo is developing the game for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with a plan to release later this year. A PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 version will follow afterward.

Hawk himself also mentioned the game’s announcement, showcasing the logo for the game on his Instagram account.
