'Ice and the Sky' chosen as Cannes closing-night film

Oscar-winner Luc Jacquet’s documentary, Ice and the Sky, has been announced as the closing-night film for the Cannes Film Festival.

Jacquet, who directed March of the Penguins, will debut his fourth feature on May 24 at the Grand Théâtre Lumière of the Palais des Festivals. Ice and the Sky focuses on the discoveries of Claude Lorius, who began studying Antarctic ice in 1957, and was one of the first to seriously discuss the dangers of global warming“Showing this film in the world’s largest film festival is contributing to this huge challenge facing humanity as quickly as possible to secure its future and the future of the planet,” Jacquet said in a statement.
