Freddy is coming back, and he looks like he’s in pretty bad shape.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 4: The Final Chapter has been announced and is set for an Oct. 31 release later this year. A teaser image for the game has been uploaded to developer Scott Cawthon’s website, depicting Freddy. The image offers little more than a title and a release date, but the title suggests this will be the last outing for Freddy.
Of course, as another horror franchise with a similarly named entry, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, taught fans, “final” only means final until it doesn’t.
The first Freddy’s was released less than a year ago on Aug. 8, 2014, and has since seen release on mobile platforms in addition to PC. And even if the series concludes with this fourth title, it shows no signs of slowing down, as Warner Bros. recently optioned the film rights to the game franchise. So expect Freddy to have a long, terrifying life.
