Robert Downey Jr. made worldwide headlines earlier this week by walking out of an cringe-worthy interview. Now the Avengers star is breaking his silence on the matter while chatting, ironically enough, with the legendary ABC News reporter whose named he dropped during that same awkward interview.

Here’s what happened: Downey was in the ABC News building on Friday for an appearance on Live with Kelly and Michael when he bumped into none other than Diane Swayer. While promoting The Avengers: Age of Ultron earlier this week with British journalist Krishnan Guru-Murthy, the actor walked out of his interview after being asked questions about his past drug addiction, his father and jail time, noting, “It’s getting a little Diane Sawyer in here.” (Sawyer, of course, is known for conducting hard-hitting interviews.)

Downey took a hug-pic with Sawyer for Instagram and threw a clear jab at Guru-Murthy, calling the encounter “a corrective experience with legitimate journalism.”
