Universal Pictures has acquired an untitled musical comedy pitch from Josh Gad and writer/director Jeremy Garelick, EW has confirmed. The Oscar-winning team of Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz will collaborate to create original songs for the film.

Garelick will write the screenplay and also direct, with Gad set to star in the project. (The two worked together in 2015 for The Wedding Ringer.) Gad is currently starring in the FX original comedy, The Comedians, alongside legedary comedian Billy Crystal. The Frozen star also recently signed on to Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast with Emma Watson and Dan Stevens, set for March 17, 2017 release

Deadline first broke news of the deal, as the auction reportedly came down to Universal, Disney, and Paramount. According to the site, the pitch was auctioned off for seven figures. Michael De Luca is set to produce along with Gad, Garelick, Menken and Schwartz.
