First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden are clocking in for The Night Shift. The duo will appear in a special episode of the NBC medical drama as part of the Joining Forces initiative, which promotes health resources for veterans.
The episode, which will air May 4 at 10 p.m., aims to “illustrate the healing, resilience and sense of purpose that veterans, such as San Antonio Memorial’s own TC Callahan (played by Eoin Macken), have found when they get the support they need,” according to a press release.
Obama and Biden also filmed a PSA about veterans’ mental health with Night Shift stars Jill Flint, Robert Bailey Jr. and Macken, which will debut on NBC.com. Those five, along with Night Shift executive producer Gabe Sachs and director Eriq La Salle, toured the Silver Spring Vet Center in Silver Spring, Maryland on Friday, and discussed how the show can incorporate the issues of the Joining Forces initiative into the show, which centers on an ER team composed of veterans, active duty military and civilians.
Obama—who appeared earlier this month on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote her Let’s Move campaign—is no stranger to prime time, having recently appeared on such shows as Parks and Recreation, Nashville and Shark Tank, while Biden popped up in the Parks series finale in February.
