After Eddie sacrificed himself in order to erase the Reverse Flash from the timeline, Barry literally sped his way into a singularity that was preparing to swallow Central City whole. Where (or when) did he go?! This is just one of a number of questions we hope The Flash cast and executive producers answer during Saturday’s Comic-Con panel. To prepare for the big event, EW is here to give you a refresher on where The CW super series left off:
Where we left off: After Barry (Grant Gustin) decided against saving his mother in the past, the scarlet speedster raced back to the present to prevent the Reverse Flash (Tom Cavanagh) from returning to his own time. Devastated at the destruction of the time machine, Eobard was determined to not only kill Barry, but everyone he cares about. Seeing that the man in yellow was getting the upper hand, Eddie (Rick Cosnett) decided to shoot himself, knowing it would effectively erase his descendant from the timeline. Despite returning to the present in time, a singularity opened up above Central City, forcing Barry to run into it to save everyone’s lives.
What we know about season 2: Once we discover where (or when) Barry has gone in order to save everyone from the singularity, everyone will be dealing with the fallout of Eddie’s death — which makes things especially complicated between Barry and Iris (Candice Patton), who professed her undying love for Eddie before he died. And despite disappearing into the ether, we have not seen the last of Tom Cavanagh, who will still be a series regular in the sophomore season. Plus: The Flash will be delving into alternate timelines next season — hopefully at least the one that featured Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) as Killer Frost.
