Empire star Taraji P. Henson, who plays the quick-witted ex-con Cookie Lyon on Fox’s smash hit, has just sold a memoir to the Simon & Schuster imprint 37 INK, The New York Times reports.
In the memoir, Henson writes about growing up in a rough neighborhood in Washington, being a single parent, and her Hollywood success. Before Empire cemented her star status, Henson appeared on the show Person of Interest, and in films Hustle and Flow, Baby Boy, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Her performance in Benjamin Button earned her a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination.
Henson’s book is scheduled for publication in mid-2016.
