ABC Family greenlights pilots from 'Office' and 'Heroes' alums

Posted on

ABC Family has given the okay for two more original pilots, the comedy Gorgeous Morons and supernatural drama Beyond, the channel announced Friday.

Gorgeous Morons centers on two good looking brothers, a model and a personal trainer, who get a new roommate—a female literature Ph.D. who they believe needs a makeover. Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnisky (The Office, Bad Teacher) are behind the project as co-creators and executive producers, along with head writer Danny Chun (The Office).

Beyond follows a young man who awakes from a coma after 12 years to find he has supernatural abilities that have landed him in a dangerous situation. Once Upon a Time in Wonderland‘s Adam Nussdorf serves as Beyond’s creator, writer, and executive producer, along with executive producers Tim Kring (Heroes), Zak Kadison, Justin Levy, and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones.

“Quality comedies and epic adventures are key elements of our programming strategy,” said Karey Burke, ABC Family Executive Vice President, Programming and Development in a statement. “The teams behind these pilots have a history of creating amazing series in those genres, and I am thrilled to have them creating for ABC Family.”

The channel previously picked up saga series Shadowhunters and single camera comedy Kevin From Work.
