Filmmaker Spike Lee’s next feature-length movie is coming to Amazon, according to The Wrap. Lee’s next project is reportedly titled Chiraq, and Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Piven, Common and Kanye West are all reportedly in talks for roles in the film.
Little is known about the plot at this time, but the project might tackle brutality in Chicago, as the term “Chiraq” originated in recent years to compare gun violence and danger levels in the Windy City to those of Iraq’s war zone.
Piven, Common, and West all hail from Chicago, and Lee is slated to visit the city next week to host a talk.
In January, Amazon announced plans to get into the movie business by producing 12 feature films starting this year. Amazon Original Movies productions would be available to stream on Prime Instant Video.
