  • Recent Oscar-winner Julianne Moore is in negotiations to star in Nicole Holofcener’s Can You Ever Forgive MeHolofcener is penning the script based on the 2008 memoir by Lee IsraelIsrael was a respected biographer who, upon falling on hard times, turned to counterfeiting the letters of dead writers and celebrities in order to pay rent. When the forgeries began to raise suspicions, she began to steal the actual letters from library archives and sold them through an ex-con she met in a bar, all while the FBI was closing in on the scam.   • Hayden Christensen has landed the lead role in Paramount’s fantasy action movie Marco PoloFilmmaker Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious) will direct the co-production between Paramount and China Film Group. Polo is a historical figure whose 24-year journey to China in the 13th century has made him a legend,  making the character appealing to Chinese audiences.   • Aja Naomi King (How to Get Away With Murder) is set to star opposite Armie Hammer in the historical drama The Birth of a Nation. The film is based on the story of the slave rebellion led by Nat Turner in 1831. Prompted by his religious visions, Turner and a band of almost 70 rebel slaves murdered between 55 and 65 people in Virginia—the most ever killed in a slave uprising. After two days the rebellion was stopped, but Turner escaped and survived in hiding for over two months. Shooting will begin in mid-May in Savannah, Ga. [Variety]
