Boy Meets World fans are (finally) about to find out what happened to Jonathan Turner.
The Girl Meets World writers Twitter account revealed Tuesday that Anthony Tyler Quinn is reprising the role for the second season of Girl Meets World. Quinn also confirmed the appearance on his Twitter account, though he later deleted the tweet. The news came a few days after Boy alum Will Friedle got fans talking by posting a recent selfie with Quinn.
Fans of the show have been plagued with questions regarding the whereabouts of Cory Matthews’ second-favorite teacher (only after Mr. Feeny, of course) since the Turner character exitted Boy in its third season. When we last saw Turner, the motorcycle-loving guardian of Cory’s best friend Shawn Hunter, he was in a full body cast after a very serious motorcycle accident. Although we knew he survived because he received a special shout-out from another long-lost character (who’d been hanging out in “the other part of the school”) in the show’s “Graduation” episode, Turner’s exact status was unknown.
Boy Meets World creator Michael Jacobs told EW rn our 2013 reunions issue that fans could expect a few answers to their questions in the show’s Disney Channel spin-off, including what happened to the beloved teacher.
“[Quinn] was one of the first people who got in touch with me after [Girl Meets World] was announced,” Jacobs said. “And what it made me realize is not only does the audience, but the people who were on the show have a fondness for [the show].”
Girl Meets World has brought back several Boy Meets World fan favorites already, including Shawn’s former girlfriend Angela Moore (Trina McGee), Shawn’s deceased father Chet Hunter (Blake Clark), Cory’s brother (Will Friedle), and the infamous Mr. Feeny (William Daniels).
Disney Channel had no comment.
